This week I started my free inquiry, having received several of my kits in the mail. I found quickly that I really enjoy doing this. It’s almost meditative – I throw on a show on Netflix or a video on YouTube from one of the gamers I watch and just take the amount of time the video takes to just spend the time embroidering. So far, I am slow. I’ve gotten not a lot done, but I am pretty proud of what I’ve gotten done.

The first thing I did was this little flower here, and it was using a satin stitch. This one was pretty easy, honestly, and there wasn’t much involved. The thing I found a real struggle was actually getting the fabric on the hoop, and my partner had to help me do it as it seemed like the hoop was stuck. Threading the needle is also annoying, because of the embroidery thread being separated a bit after you pull out the threads you don’t need. You basically have to take the embroidery thread and separate it, for this pattern it uses only 4 threads for everything, and the embroidery thread is actually 6 threads wound together.

The next thing I did was the inner part of the flower beside that one, and I found this one to be a bit more annoying to do.

The stitch here is a French knot. You have to wrap the thread around the needle once or twice before you put it back through the fabric, creating a cute little knot that actually does kind of look like the center of a flower. Without anything to hold my hoop it was kind of difficult to do, so I can see why people that do embroidery a lot get embroidery hoop holders.

This was all I had time to do this week, but so far it’s something that I’m definitely enjoying.
